PTO By-laws Amendments

Dear PTO Members:

As I'm sure many of you will recall, at last year's PTO Annual Business Meeting we all agreed that the Board of Directors would work this year to develop a proposed plan for transitioning the headquarters of the organization from Omaha, Nebraska, where Doug Paterson and Carol Lloyd, have worked extraordinarily hard to manage many of the details of maintaining the organization's incorporation, to Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, where an energetic and committed corps of practitioners has agreed to take on the work of situating PTO in a new "home."

The Board has taken on a number of initiatives related to this transition, which we will discuss in more detail during the Annual Business Meeting at this year's conference (scheduled for Saturday afternoon). One of the goals of a subcommittee of the Board was to undertake a review of the current organizational bylaws and to make suggestions for changes that would need to occur once the transition plans are approved.

We have placed a document on the PTO website that offers members an opportunity to view the current bylaws and the proposed changes. We invite you to view the document and to bring your ideas about it to the business meeting. The agenda of that session will include the preliminary approval of the revisions.

I will look forward to seeing you all very soon at this year's conference, which promises to be spectacular.

With admiration for the good work you do,
Toby Emert
President, 2008-09
