Transportation from Airport to Conference Site / Transporte desde el aeropuerto hasta el lugar de la conferencia

Participants are responsible for their transportation to and from the Omaha airport. Transportation options include bus (more info: https://www.ometro.com/), driving, and ride-share companies like Uber and Lyft. In addition, zTrip is a large taxi company in Omaha that offers scheduling via phone or an app. / Lxs participantes son responsables de su transporte a y desde el aeropuerto en Omaha. There are many ways to reach the conference site by car. UPDATE! LIMITED but FREE University of Nebraska Omaha shuttle service now available to PTO Participants:

We have learned that PTO participants will now be able to use the University Shuttle for free (IDs are not checked) during the times that it is running, and that schedule has now been determined for the summer. This is wonderful news because the limited service shuttle schedule runs between the Scott Campus (where the hotel & dorms are) & the Dodge Campus (where the preconference & most conference locations are). This shuttle service means that sign-ups for board member car shuttles will only take place during certain times when the shuttle is NOT running (see more info below) OR if someone makes a request because the shuttle does not drop them off close enough to the location for them to be able to travel the rest of the way themselves (special requests can go to ptoomaha2025@gmail.com). More info: 

    • Limited Summer Shuttle Service runs between 8 am and 6 pm, Monday-Friday, approximately every 20 minutes.
    • Participants of our conference should be able to just get on the shuttle without presenting ID, as university employees have told us that they do not require a university ID to board and that guests of the university are entitled to use the shuttle when it’s operating.
    • About the route: 
      • For the Limited Summer Shuttle Service during the summer, stops will be made at Criss Library (on the Dodge campus, close to our primary conference locations), Scott Court (approximately 1 block from Scott Hall) and Scott Hall/Landing (the dorm itself!) approximately every 20 minutes (according to the current schedules).
      • If you are staying at the conference hotel (Courtyard Marriott), you can go to Scott Hall (walking route) or to Scott Court (walking route) to pick up the shuttle to travel between campuses to Criss Library (close to the conference locations). 
      • UNO has an app that aims to give riders up-to-date shuttle info: It’s called UNO Shuttle Tracker and can be viewed on a computer or by downloading it from the App Store on a smart phone. 
      • Participants can click this link for directions from Criss Library (where the shuttle drops you off near the conference locations) to the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center (where the 3-day precon will be on Tuesday and the conference will be on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
      • Participants can click this link for directions from Criss Library (where the shuttle drops you off near the conference locations) to Thompson Alumni Center (where the 3-day precon will be on Wednesday and Thursday): 0.3 miles 
        • Because the shuttle will be operating for most of the hours of the preconference, preconference participants can either plan to walk, use car app services (Uber, Lyft, taxis) they order, or use the shuttle to arrive at the preconference site. 
        • As previously noted, on Thursday, the opening session is not on the university campus but is instead at Omaha Conservatory of Music, so the university shuttle will not go to that session, and participants can take ride shares, drive themselves, or contact us ahead of time at ptoomaha2025@gmail.com if neither of those options are available to them and they are hoping to arrange other transport. 
        • Regarding the full conference and Friday service, given that the shuttle only runs between 8 am and 6 pm (times that are quite close to our start time and our end time on Friday), anyone coming to the conference at the very beginning of the day or staying to the end (both of which we strongly encourage!) can either walk, use Ubers, Lyfts, or taxis, or schedule rides with board members or other volunteers at the beginning or end of the day only (more information to be provided onsite at the conference). During most of the day itself, however, participants should use the university shuttle service or other services if they choose to go back and forth between the conference and the dorms/hotel. 
        • On Saturday and Sunday of the conference, there is no university shuttle service because it is the summer, so participants can either plan to walk, use services like Uber or Lyft or taxis, or schedule pick-ups in car trips made by board members (more information to be provided onsite at the conference).   

Lodging / Alojamiento

Please note that you are not required to reserve under our room blocks and may be able to locate other options that work better for you. In fact, sometimes individuals can find better rates outside of PTO’s reserved room blocks because sometimes there is an increase in charge to hold a large block of rooms.         • If you have preferred suitemates, you will have the chance to indicate that on the dorm reservation form. * While minors are able to stay in our dormitory block, the university has slightly different policies in relation to housing for minors (meaning people under 18 years of age). If you reserve a room as a minor or for a minor, you (or the person for whom you will be reserving will either 1) be placed in a 1-bedroom suite on your own (but with someone from PTO available nearby to address questions and concerns) or 2) be placed in a multi-bedroom suite in which you are the only resident (but with someone from PTO available nearby to address questions and concerns) or 3) in some circumstances, you may be able to be placed in your own private room inside a suite with others who indicate the same gender identity as you have on the dorm registration form (if you and others in the suite have chosen to indicate gender identity, which is optional).
