Shuttles To and From Conference Site/Airport

PTO is subsidizing a shuttle to and from the airport to the conference site. The ride is approximately 2 hours each way, depending on traffic, for $10 USD per person each way.

Spaces on the shuttle bus will be available on a reserve system that will be available here on the website soon. Shuttles are scheduled for the following times below, essentially covering the day before the pre-conference begins, the day the conference begins, and the final day of the conference. If you are arriving outside of those main arrival days (June 8th or June 9th), you will still be able to reserve a seat for a shuttle run by IUP volunteers based on your flight arrival.

Shuttles on June 8th and June 9th will be university vans driven by student drives authorized by the university. The cost for those off-day shuttles will also be $10 USD each way. Please note that if you need access to a shuttle on June 8th or June 9th, you will be asked about your flight arrival time so that we can plan for specific shuttle times to meet the needs of everyone who utilizes these options.  Once registration closes, PTO will schedule shuttle times on June 8th and June 9th with IUP volunteers and follow up with those shuttle registrants to let you know when shuttle times will be leaving the airport.

Accommodations

PRIVATE AND SEMI-PRIVATE DORM ROOMS ON CAMPUS: REGISTER NOW!
These very recently-built dorm rooms in excellent condition are available for reservation at IUP, with enough availability to accommodate as many guests as necessary. Just a short distance (~0.2 miles or 0.32 kilometers) from the conference site makes these great options for getting to and from the conference quickly and easily. Each dorm includes bathrooms in each suite, high-speed wired and wireless internet, microwaves and refrigerators, air conditioning, trash disposal and laundry on each floor. Dorms are smoke free.

Semi-Private Room: Each semi-private suite includes two bedrooms (each with twin beds), a common area (with table, microwave and fridge) and bathroom. Reservation is for one person. The second bedroom in the suite will be shared with another PTO guest. $28 USD per person, per night plus one-time $25 USD linen fee.

Private Room: Each private suite includes one bedrooms (with a twin bed), a common area (with microwave and fridge) and bathroom. Reservation is for one person. $45 USD per person, per night plus one-time $25 USD linen fee.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING REGISTRATION BLOCKS
Please note that we only allow block registrations for campus housing. This means you can register for June 4-June 7 (pre-conference), June 7-June 10 (conference), or June 4- June 10 (pre-conference and conference).  If you arrive on-site after your reservation begins or leave before it ends, you will still be expected to pay for the full block for which you registered. As you go through registration for campus housing, please select one of the three following block options:

HOUSING PLACEMENT, GENDER INCLUSION
Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed stands firmly in solidarity with trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming people and strives to create a welcoming and safe lodging (and conference) environment for all people, especially those marginalized on the basis of sex, gender identity, and gender expression. For those selecting to stay in the semi-private on-campus residence hall options, we will not segregate people based in their gender unless individuals indicate a specific preference.

During registration for semi-private on-campus lodging, prospective residents may indicate any disability accessible accommodations as well as whether they have a preference for being housed with someone of a specific gender. Please note that if you select be housed with other “women” that this includes anyone who lists themselves as a woman, including trans women, non-binary women, and cis women.  We will apply a similar process to all gender-specific housing requests.  If you are uncomfortable with our process for placing people in housing options, please consider registering for a private suite or staying in one of the conference hotels.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How far away is this housing option from the conference site? The residence hall is only 0.2 miles (~0.32km) away from the primary conference building.
  • What happens if I lose my room key card? Anyone who loses their key card will be charged $45 to acquire a replacement card.
  • How does check-in and check-out work?  PTO will send all on-campus housing registrants additional check-in, lodging, and check-out details as the conference date approaches.
  • If I choose a semi-private room, who will be my roommate? As you register you’ll be able to request your roommate in a shared suite. If you do not name a roommate another PTO guest will be assigned.
